Young Minds, Bold Ideas: Stories of Change

As part of the Tinker on Wheels (ToW) initiative, the 2nd Cohort conducted a series of STEM and Innovation workshops from 16th July to 9th September 2025 in Sonbhadra. Over this period, students engaged in hands-on learning activities designed to ignite creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

At ToW, we believe that every child carries the potential to be an innovator, and with the right guidance, that spark can flourish. Throughout these weeks, classrooms transformed into lively hubs of exploration, where students explored entrepreneurship, practical problem-solving, and innovation in ways that connected learning to real-life challenges.

The culmination of this journey saw students presenting their innovative solutions—from addressing everyday community problems to envisioning futuristic products. Their creativity, confidence, and willingness to think big exemplify the transformative impact of the ToW program, reflecting how hands-on learning can empower young minds to dream, design, and innovate.

Star Innovators and Their Ideas

Project Title: Eco-friendly Dustbin Model

Name: Sahin
Class: 8th
School Name: Birla Vidya Mandir, Myorpur

Sahin presented an innovative model as part of Entrepreneur India. The model was a dustbin made from two used plastic tea cups. The main idea behind this project was to promote recycling and reuse of waste materials.

Instead of buying new plastic dustbins from the market, Sahin showed how we can make useful items like dustbins at home using waste materials such as used cups, cardboard, and carton boxes.

This model aims to create awareness about recycling and demonstrates that waste can be turned into something valuable. Additionally, such homemade dustbins can also be sold to earn some income, making it a small but effective entrepreneurial idea.

Project Title: Handmade Rakhi and Rainwater Harvesting Model

Name: Kajal Kumari
Class: 8th
School Name: Kasturba Gandhi Balika Aawasiya Vidyalya, Myorpur

Kajal Kumari presented a creative project under Entrepreneur India. She made a beautiful Rakhi using waste wool which showed her skill in reusing materials. Along with the Rakhi, she also prepared a model of a Rainwater Harvesting House.

Her project demonstrated how simple materials and creativity can be used to make useful and decorative items. From an entrepreneurial point of view, she showed that handmade products and eco-friendly models can be sold to earn income and at the same time help in spreading awareness about water conservation.

Kajal’s work reflected her creative thinking and practical approach, combining art with environmental awareness and entrepreneurship.

Project Title: Paper Flower Craft for Entrepreneurship
Name: Shana
Class: 6
School Name: Birla Vidya Mandir, Myorpur

Shana, a student of Class 6, presented a creative idea under Entrepreneur India. She made a beautiful flower using waste paper and planned to sell it as a handmade decorative item.

Her project reflected her entrepreneurial thinking, showing how small creative efforts can be turned into a source of income. Through this model, she aimed to encourage others to reuse waste materials and create useful, artistic products.

This simple yet meaningful idea demonstrated that even a small initiative can help a person take the first step toward becoming an entrepreneur.

Project Title: Multi-Model Innovation: Solar House, Rain Harvesting System, Tractor, and Windmill

Name: Dev Kumar and Jayasant Kumar
Class: 8th
School Name: Aditya Intermediate College, Karamghatti

Dev Kumar and Jayasant Kumar presented an impressive and innovative project as part of Entrepreneur India. They created multiple working models — including a Solar House, a Rainwater Harvesting House, a Tractor, and a Windmill — all made using very limited resources, costing only ₹60 in total.

From an entrepreneurial point of view, their project demonstrated the power of creativity, cost-effectiveness, and problem-solving. By utilizing simple materials and innovative thinking, they showcased how renewable energy and sustainability can be promoted even at the school level.

Their models encouraged the idea that innovation does not depend on high investment, but on imagination and skill. Such projects can inspire young students to become future entrepreneurs, developing practical solutions for society while promoting eco-friendly technologies.

This initiative clearly reflected their entrepreneurial spirit and their vision for a sustainable and self-reliant future.

Project Title: Solar House and Rainwater Harvesting Model

Name: Nitesh and Shubham Kumar
Class: 8th
School Name: Aditya Intermediate College, Karamghatti

Nitesh and Shubham Kumar presented a creative and eco-friendly project under Entrepreneur India. They prepared a Solar House and a Rainwater Harvesting House model that demonstrated the importance of renewable energy and water conservation.

From an entrepreneurial point of view, their model promoted the idea that sustainable technologies can be developed using simple materials and innovative thinking. Their project reflected how young students can combine science and entrepreneurship to create useful and environment-friendly solutions for future needs.

This model also inspired others to think about how solar energy and rainwater harvesting can be used effectively at homes and schools, reducing costs and protecting natural resources.

Their innovative work clearly represented the spirit of entrepreneurship — using creativity and awareness to build a better, sustainable tomorrow.

Project Title: Soil and Cement Art Painting

Name: Nandani

Class: 8th
School Name: Birla Vidya Mandir, Myorpur

Nandani, a student of Class 6, presented a creative idea under Entrepreneur India. She made a beautiful painting on a smooth surface prepared with soil and cement. Her artwork highlighted the fusion of natural and industrial materials, creating a unique texture and finish.

The main purpose of her project was to show how art can become a form of entrepreneurship. By using simple and low-cost materials like soil and cement, she demonstrated that anyone can create art pieces that can be sold in the market for income.

Her creativity and effort reflected an entrepreneurial mindset, promoting the idea that innovation and art can go hand in hand to generate self-employment opportunities.

Project Title: Ideal Village Model

Name: Vivek, Dheeraj, and Divya Kumar Sharma
Class: 8th
School Name: Purva Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Jharokla

The students — Vivek, Dheeraj, and Divya Kumar Sharma — worked together as a group to create a map of an Ideal Village on chart paper. Their model was based on their own village and aimed to show how a rural area can be developed through planning, creativity, and community participation.

From an entrepreneurial point of view, their project encouraged the idea that young minds can contribute to rural development by designing innovative solutions such as clean surroundings, waste management, small-scale industries, and self-employment opportunities.

This model inspired others to think about how villages can become self-reliant through the use of local resources, creativity, and teamwork. It beautifully connected the concept of entrepreneurship with rural innovation and sustainable development.

 

Project Title: Creative Paper Art for Home Decoration

Name: Jitendra Kumar
Class: 9th
School Name: Rajkiya Balika High School, Jharokla

Jitendra Kumar presented a beautiful decorative design made by cutting and shaping paper and chart paper. His artwork was simple yet attractive and can be used for home decoration and festive purposes.

From an entrepreneurial point of view, this project showed how waste or low-cost materials can be turned into value-added products. With creativity and patience, Jitendra demonstrated that handmade decorative items can be sold in the market, helping students develop self-employment skills and an entrepreneurial mindset.

His project encouraged others to think creatively and make eco-friendly decorative products using locally available materials. This initiative truly reflected the idea of “Art with Purpose”, where creativity meets entrepreneurship.

School: Purva Madhyamik Vidyalya, Jharokla

Vivek Kumar created a model of a rain harvesting house using cardboard. The model demonstrates a simple and practical idea for water conservation, reflecting creativity and entrepreneurial thinking.

Student Name: Pratiksha Kumari
Class: 10th
School Name: Rajkiya Balika Highschool jharokla.

Pratiksha Kumari used paper to create beautiful designs. She cut and decorated the paper to generate creative ideas. She made flowers and other decorative items. This activity shows her creativity and entrepreneurial skills.

Student Name: Arti Kumari
Class: 9th
School: Rajkiya Balika Vidyalya, Jharokla. 

Arti Kumari created a beautiful and attractive craft using a ring, a three-colored ribbon (saffron, white, and green), and paper. She wrapped the ribbon around the ring and decorated the bottom with heart-shaped paper cuttings, making the final piece visually appealing and creative.
